PROFILE

At Lars Langberg Architects the design process is explored through context, common sense, and collaboration: context of the needs of the client and the character of the site; common sense through wise use of resources, careful siting, and overall sustainable building principles; and collaboration through listening and open communication with clients, builders, and consultants. By following these principles, we create truly satisfying projects of lasting comfort and beauty.

Lars Langberg Architects was founded by Lars Langberg in 2003. He completed a Masters of Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), after receiving a B.A. with a major in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After living and working in San Francisco, Lars moved with his wife Karin and 2 children Livija and Jasper to Forestville to establish his practice. He is a licensed architect in the state of California (#C30790), and is a certified green building professional, having completed a year-long program at Sonoma State University.

In 2008, Lars moved the firm to a storefront in Sebastopol, founding the 108 Art & Design Space. In addition to being a shared design work space, 108 A+D exhibits the work of local fine artists, and has hosted lectures, classes, workshops, and parties to raise awareness of design and the design process in the community.

Lars has also been involved for 15 years in teaching architecture to children using literature and storytelling. This has occurred in a variety of venues, including residency programs in public schools, day-long museum workshops, and an eight weekend collaborative installation at ZEUM. He also participated in curriculum development at the Bay Area Discovery Museum and has run professional development workshops for teachers.
